This can be a very painful process so here are some steps to help:


Sharepoint --> Depts -> Pricing --> Price Quote --> Price Quote library


1. First, discard any checkouts on files.  Go to view "CheckedOut".  Discard the checkouts

2. Then get Steve to agree on how much to archive.  I try to keep just 6 months.

3. Look at the size of the "special folders" such as Price List Reports.  That one is a big folder, over a GB, and I don't like it but have not convinced him to move it.  At some point you may need to create either a new sharepoint library for it or convince him to move it off.


Destination:  s:\pricequote\3-archive


4. Open two folders, one for the sharepoint libary and one for the archive


5. Start copying and pasting the folders.


6. Sometimes the folders don't disappear on the source side and then you have to investigate each one individually.  It seems like folders with nested folders are problematic and don't either copy or only partially copy.
