Mimecast allows you to send files that exceed the maximum size allowed by Outlook (Which is capped at 20 MB). With Mimecast, Users can send files up to 2 GB, they can also send requests to mail recipients which will allow the recipient to send files up to the 2 GB limit allowed by Mimecast.  

Follow these steps in order to send a large file request to a mail recipient


Walkthrough


Sending a Request

  1. Open Outlook and compose a new message

  2. Click "Mimecast" on the ribbon


  3. Click "Request Large Files" 


  4. Add the recipient that you wish to send the request to and click "Send"


  5. Click "Send"



    If the message was sent successfully, you will receive this prompt




Receiving a Request

  1. Search for the e-Mail sent by the requester within your e-Mail Client
  2. Open the attachment "Mimecast Large File Send Instructions"



  3. Click "Upload Files"


  4. Your internet web browser will open the necessary webpage to begin the uploading process. Once open, you can either drag the files you wish to share into the open field or add the files by clicking on "Add Files". You can also add a message.




  5. Once you have added the files you wish to e-Mail, click "Send"



    You will receive the following message if the upload was successful



  6. The requester will receive an e-Mail with the attachments, they will need to open the "Mimecast Large File Instructions"



    In order to process downloading the files, click "Download Files"


    Click "Download All"




    The files will be sent to the "Downloads" folder on your Windows computer (C:\Users\"Username of the User"\Downloads)
