Cisco Jabber: What is it & why does Wixon like to use it?
· Cisco Jabber is a unified communications application for the PC.
· It provides presence, instant messaging, phone and voicemail functionalities, desktop sharing, and conferencing capabilities.
In plain English, here’s what Jabber does:
· Provides presence status
o based on your Outlook calendar (in a meeting)
o your phone status (on a call)
o or your physical presence at your computer (away)
o set a predefined or custom status
· Instant messaging
o chat to reduce number of emails or calls
· Voice dialing
o dial your Wixon desk phone from your Jabber app
· Check voicemail
o listen to your Wixon voicemail from Jabber, so
you don’t have to login to voicemail on your desk phone
· Send attachments
o may reduce large emails you need to send internally
· Desktop sharing
o show a co-worker what you see on your screen (training/troubleshooting/sharing)
· Conferencing capabilities
o group chat to quickly resolve an issue or problem
**
Please view attachment (page 2) on how to optimally configure your
Jabber **
** Also see attachment (page 3) how to initially log in if you have
never logged into Jabber before. **
If you apply these custom settings and allow Jabber to start up when your computer turns out, Jabber provides maximum value to Wixon and your co-workers.
If you need further assistance with Jabber, please send an email request to helpdesk@wixon.com and we’ll help get you started.
